My name is Ms. Lisa Marples, and I have the pleasure of being the Grad Coordinator for this year's grad. I am very excited to be working with this group of Grade 12s! I will be sending emails periodically throughout the year, and encourage you to continue to check here for updates as well.

The parent committee will be holding another drive-thru breakfast fundraiser in the GESS parking lot on Tuesday, April 16 between 7:30-9:00 am while supplies last. Breakfast will be made available by CASH donation. All proceeds go towards reducing the cost of prom tickets for grads.
2. NEW: APRIL 26 - MOVIE NIGHT FUNDRAISER:
On Friday, April 26, from 6-8 pm, the grads are hosting their (most likely) final community movie night fundraiser of the year, and will be showing Ratatouille in the Creekside Theatre. Tickets are $2 at the door (cash or debit), and additional items will be sold at the concession.
This is a family friendly community event. If you are able to attend, we would love to see you! An informational poster can also be found in the 'EVENTS' tab above.
3. UPDATE: MAY 3 - KRISPY KREME FUNDRAISER:
The parent volunteer committee will be holding a Krispy Kreme fundraiser at lunch on Friday, May 3 at GESS, as well as on Saturday, May 4 at various locations in the community. Grad volunteers (ideally between 15-20) are needed to assist with Saturday’s sales in particular.
Cash or card can be accepted on May 3, but only cash on May 4. Doughnuts will be sold for $2 each, or $20 for a box. An informational poster has been attached to this email, and can also be found on the grad website under the ‘EVENTS’ tab.
4. PROM SLIDESHOW - PHOTOS NEEDED:
Tara King is a grad parent and teacher in SD23, and will be putting together the Grad slideshow which includes grad photos, as well as other photos submitted by you.
If possible, please submit between 10-12 photos of your child including: baby, toddler, early childhood, young teen, and current photos. If you have one of them "graduating from Kindergarten/daycare" please include that! Since this is a school-sanctioned event, the photos need to be appropriate (no naked bottoms or sucking on a beer bottle). An example of the page for Tara’s son Mason (from two years ago) has been included as an attachment.
As soon as you are able, please send your photos to [email protected] with your child's first and last name in the subject line. Even though the slideshow is in June, she is starting early, as it takes a long time to collate.
5. NEW: COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP EVENTS - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Volunteers are needed for two upcoming clean up initiatives in the community: The first is at the Winfield Easter Seal Camp on Saturday, May 4 @ 8:30 AM. This is a grad legacy commitment. We NEED a strong volunteer turnout!
The second is at the LC Cemetery the following weekend on Saturday, May 11 @ 9:00 AM. This is in partnership with the Lake Country Lions Club.
More information on both of these events will be available soon. If you can volunteer your time, talk to Ms. Marples in rm. 302 ASAP!
6. ENDING MAY 6: GRAD AWARDS:
On the ‘CLP GRAD 2024’ Google Classroom page, there is a Google Form where students can nominate themselves for a grad award. Submissions will be reviewed, and all eligible students who have submitted nominations will receive an award.
Students are NOT limited to just one award! If they feel they meet the criteria for multiple awards, then they are encouraged to nominate themselves for all that apply. However, in order to receive multiple awards, the Google Form must be submitted multiple times, as responses are limited to one award per form submission.
7. ENDING MAY 10: CONVOCATION TICKETS + GOOGLE FORM:
Below is the link to the Google Form regarding ticket numbers for convocation on June 14. Each grad has been alloted 6 tickets for this event (not including themselves). This Google Form can be edited and resubmitted if needed.
In addition to ticket numbers, there are also questions with regards to priority seating and accessibility accommodations. Please read all of the questions carefully and respond to the best of your current knowledge. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
CLICK HERE for the Google Form Link.
8. GRAD PARENT FACEBOOK GROUP:
If you are looking to connect with fellow grad parents, please check out the “GESS Grad Parents 2024” Facebook group. This will help you stay in the loop about upcoming fundraising events you may wish to participate in, as well as other relevant information to keep you connected. Please note that this is a CLOSED group. In order to verify one’s identity, and protect against spam accounts, there are security questions that MUST be answered in order to be approved to join. The answer to the question regarding the number of grads for this year is 147.
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Grad Council meetings are EVERY Tuesday morning at 7:30am in rm. 129. All Grade 12s are welcome.
- If any grade 12 is NOT a part of the 'CLP GRAD 2024' Google Classroom page, they MUST join ASAP. Code = 74ktw7p
Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Regards,
Lisa Marples
